UN: Nearly 5,000 Somali refugees from Yemen have returned home since 2017

Somali refugees are returning to Somalia from Yemen

About 5,000 Somali refugees have returned home since the beginning of 2015, the United Nations said Wednesday.

This information was shared in a tweet by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on its Twitter account.

The UN said 131 Somali refugees arrived today at the port of Berbera in Somalia, returning from Yemen.

Since 2017, UNHCR in Yemen has helped 4,942 Somalis return home safely, it has said.

According to UN reports, Yemen currently hosts more than 270,000 refugees, including some 256,000 Somalis.
