Under-equipped medical centers in Yemen's war-ravaged healthcare system stack the odds against accident victims

Six people killed and 19 injured in rollover bus accident in Shabwah

Six people died and 19 others were injured in a bus accident on Wednesday morning in Yemen’s southeastern Shabwa governorate.

A medical official at Bir Ali health center in the coastal town of the same name told Almasdar Online that after providing first aid the center transferred the victims, which included men and women, to Ibn Sina Hospital in Mukalla City, the capital of Shabwa.

Bir Ali and other health centers located along Yemen's remote national highways generally lack basic medical equipment and ambulances necessary to provide first aid to people with serious injuries. Five years of war have exacerbated the situation, leaving the healthcare infrastructure severely deterioriated.
