The chief of staff of the First Military Region in eastern Yemen, Brig. Gen. Yahya Abu Ouja, survived an assassination attempt on Monday while making a field visit to Wadi Ser near the city of Shibam in Hadhramout governorate, according to a military source in the region. 

Abu Ouja, who is also commander of the 135th Infantry Brigade in Wadi Hadhramout, was traveling with Hadhramout Undersecretary Mohammed Al-Say’ari and two military companions when the attack happened. The two troops, including a colonel, were killed while at least four others were wounded.
