Several houses have been destroyed in landslides, as flooded streets sweep away cars

Aden’s death toll rises in ongoing floods

Two residents died under the rubble of their homes in the Al-Mualla district of Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Wednesday, increasing the death toll to three due to heavy rains, residents told Almasdar Online.

The torrential downpour caused a landslide that destroyed the tin shanties of marginalized residents in the Sheikh Ishaq area below Shamsan Mount. One man and one woman died, and two women were injured in the interim capital.

Several houses were destroyed in landslides, while the flooded streets of Al-Qalluah swept away several citizens’ cars, residents said.

The first man killed was caught in the floods as he was driving on the road between Khormaksar and Al-Mansourah districts.
