Hadhramout Gov. Faraj Al-Bahsani inaugurated new health facilities in the Falk area east of the governorate's capital of Mukalla on Monday, dedicated entirely to treating patients with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The hospital and quarantine center have a capacity of 150 beds, in addition to 10 intensive care beds and 10 ventilators.
The hospital and the center employ 150 health workers who have been trained to handle patients infected with the virus.
Yemen’s first patient diagnosed with COVID-19, currently being treated in Hadhramout's coastal town of Al-Sheher, is expected to be transferred to the new hospital.
Al-Bahsani also allocated funds to be sent to help Hadhrami residents in Egypt, who are now stuck there after seeking treatment for unrelated illnesses.
