Saudi military reinforcements arrive in Abyan, headed toward Aden
Saudi military reinforcements have arrived in the coastal town of Shaqra in Abyan governorate, a senior military officer in the Fourth Military Region told Almasdar Online. The military reinforcements are likely on their way to the interim capital of Aden, he added.
The source said that 25 transport trucks each carrying multiple armored vehicles as well as heavy and medium weapons arrived at Qarn Al-Kalasi area of Shaqra and remained there as of Monday evening. Armored vehicles accompanied the transport trucks.
The military official said reinforcements are expected to leave Shaqra and move toward Aden to support Saudi forces stationed at the coalition headquarters in Al-Buraiqa district in western Aden, as well as at the airport in the eastern part of the city and the Presidential Palace in the south.
Another military source in the Fourth Military Region told Almasdar Online that the same batch of reinforcements is being sent to the Presidential Protection Forces as part of the entry of the 1st Presidential Protection Brigade to the Presidential Palace, in accordance with the military annex of the Riyadh Agreement.
