Houthi gunmen accused of killing bride’s family in Ibb

Houthi gunmen allegedly shot dead a mother and her young son in Ibb governorate in central Yemen on Thursday as the family was traveling by bus to buy a wedding dress.

Eyewitnesses said that Houthi gunmen in a military vehicle fired a barrage of bullets at the bus near the Al-Ma'ain area in western Ibb, killing Bashir Taha Al-Jaafari and his mother. Al-Jaafari's sister, who was sitting next to her mother in the bus, survived the attack. The family was on their way to buy a dress for the young woman.

The motives of the shooting were unclear, the witnesses said, adding that Ahmed Naif Al-Idrissi, a motorcycle driver from Ibb’s Far’a Al-Odain district, was injured in the attack.
