Yemen army says it recaptures Houthi positions near Al-Jawf capital

Yemeni army forces took control of several locations held by the Houthis in the southern part of Al-Jawf governorate in northern Yemen, as fighting escalated early Thursday, a field commander there told Almasdar Online.

The names of the positions seized by the government forces have not been announced yet, but they are located on the Al-Aqaba front in Khab Al-Sha’f district, about 12 kilometers from Al-Hazm City, the governorate’s capital.

Twenty Houthis died in the clashes, the field commander said, without specifying the number of army casualties.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition resumed airstrikes, killing or injuring all Houthis traveling in a convoy of four military vehicles.

Al-Jawf front has been the scene of violent clashes for the second week in a row, in which dozens of troops from both sides have died. The Houthis have continued to make military advances in the area northeast of the rebel-controlled capital of Sana’a, which forms a triangle linking Al-Jawf, Marib and Sana'a governorates.
