Houthi ballistic missile hits residential neighborhood in downtown Marib

A Houthi ballistic missile hit Al-Matar (Airport) neighborhood in the center of Marib city, about 170 kilometers east of Yemen’s capital Sana’a on Thursday evening, an official in the Ministry of Defense told Almasdar Online.
The attack killed one civilian and injured 10 others, a medical source in Marib Hospital said.
In a separate attack on Tuesday, a Houthi ballistic missile hit Al-Zira’ah neighborhood in Marib city, injuring five people, including two children and a woman. The attack obliterated two cars and caused significant damage to local shops.
In the past week, the Houthis have intensified their targeting of Marib governorate in conjunction with large-scale attacks in its western district of Sirwah.
Marib city is home to about 2 million people including internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have poured in from neighboring governorates such as Sana’a, Amran and Al-Jawf since the war broke out in 2015, according tolocal authorities in Marib.
The Houthis have made significant military advances against Yemeni government forces in Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Baydha and Sana’a governorates for the past two months, despite repeated calls from the international community and UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to de-escalate.
