During a press conference on Sunday Nov 3rd, 2019 in Marib, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ahmed Al-Maysari announced that the government supports Saudi peace efforts in the southern governorate.

"The Yemeni people have paid a high price for security, stability, dignity, freedom and sovereignty," he said. 

"We are advocates of peace [...] and the steps that our Brothers in Saudi Arabia are arranging for peace [...] and we support an equitable relationship" Al-Maysari added. 

He further noted the importance of Marib governorate, the first space of resistance in defence against Houthi expansion, and that Marib embodies the values of national education and co-existence, and is welcoming of those who were forced by the “Iranian-backed coup militia” to flee their homes.

The Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan al-Arada, who also attended the press conference in Marib noted the great challenge faced by the governorate in offering basic services and meeting the basic needs of large numbers of displaced people seeking security, stability, and a decent life. 

Al-Maysari and Transportation Minister Saleh al-Jabwani arrived in Marib governorate on Sunday morning after visiting Hadhramaut and Shabwa governorates.
