Earthquake in Gulf of Aden felt in Hadhramout and Al-Mahra
An 5.1 magnitude earthquake was detected in the eastern Gulf of Aden on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Meteorology and Early Warning Bureau in Hadhramout governorate. Residents on the coast of Hadhramout and neighboring Al-Mahra governorate reported feeling the quake.
Regional seismic monitoring stations detected the earthquake at 11:22 p.m. Arabian Standard Time.
The quake was 168 kilometers from the nearest point of Yemen's southern coast, the statement said.
The statement said that the tsunami regional monitoring data indicated there was no risk of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake.
