"Nearly 55% of Yemen's population does not have reliable access to clean water and basic sanitation," said the UN's International Organization for Migration( IOM) in a tweet. the organization said it is currently rehabilitating 7 water points in 3 hospitals and 4 health facilities in Shabwa governorate in south-eastern Yemen.
About 20,000 patients per month are expected to have better access to water when rehabilitation is completed, IOM added in the tweets thread.
The nearly five-year war between the Houthis and the government forces has caused the deterioration of various basic services, particularly water and sanitation services, whic in turn burdens the provision of health services,.
